Who we are

For over ten years, Prague Medical Department, s.r.o. (PMCD) has been combining cutting-edge medicine, modern technology and a human approach to patients.

After many years of operation at the Central Military Hospital in Prague (ÚVN), unfortunate circumstances involving a fire led to the start of a new chapter for the institute of nuclear medicine. In 2023, the institute moved to new premises, expanding its capacity and accessibility for patients, primarily thanks to the opening of a new facility in the very centre of Prague.

We are now available to you at two locations:

  1. in Prague 1, close to Petrské náměstí, the only nuclear medicine facility in Prague 1
  2. in Prague 6, where we provide our services in close proximity to the ÚVN complex as part of our close cooperation with ÚVN.

The main goal of our work is to perform examinations as accurately and, above all, as quickly as possible. Time plays a crucial role in diagnosis and treatment selection. We are well aware of this. Therefore, it is standard for us to schedule most examinations within 7 days. We send
the results directly to the doctor by the second working day after the examination.

Most of the examinations at our facility consist of diagnostic methods focused on imaging the function of individual organs. Palliative therapy using radiopharmaceuticals is also an integral part of our work.

Working with future doctors and other healthcare professionals

Part of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine's work involves working with future doctors and other healthcare professionals. Students from the Third Faculty of Medicine at Charles University regularly visit the facility. International students from around the world also come for internships abroad. Internships are regularly offered to students of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague studying in the field of Radiological Assistance, as well as to interested students from other universities throughout the Czech Republic.

Thanks to this connection with the academic world, we are always up to date with the latest developments in the field and news from around the world. We strive not only to provide the best possible care to our current patients, but also to educate the future generation of professionals who will one day care for us. You need not worry about the presence of students during your examination. They are always supervised by our experienced staff.

Head Physician Otto Lang, MD, PhD

129Head Physician Otto Lang, M.D., Ph.D., guarantees a high level of expertise, quality, and the use of the latest procedures. With more than 30 years of experience in nuclear medicine and above-standard professional insight, he ensures that every examination meets the strictest medical standards. His approach combines precision, empathy and modern evidence-based medicine.

During your examination at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine, you may also meet our doctors, Dr. Danka Šuhajová Do and Dr. Nikola Pavelková. You can experience their empathetic and sensitive approach first-hand, especially during stress tests on the heart.

To ensure that everything runs smoothly, Medical Director Mgr. Michaela Budiačová and Operations Manager Ing. Martin Lang are on hand. Although they spend most of their time working in the office, you may occasionally meet them during your examination.

We prepare most of the radiopharmaceuticals used for examinations ourselves in our own laboratory. This allows us to control the quality, speed and accuracy of the entire process. All these steps are taken care of by our pharmaceutical assistants Lucie Forštová, Lívia Bödiová and Gabriela Dušková.

The work of our general nurses is essential to ensure that the examination runs smoothly and that the radiopharmaceutical reaches the target organ. Before the examination begins, they will ask you for essential information related to the examination and familiarise you with its course. You will meet Mgr. Lara Dina Baron Aloisdóttir and Bc. Aneta Suchánková.

The actual imaging, which is usually the last step in the examination process, is performed by experienced radiology assistants. Their main goal is to provide doctors with high-quality images to clarify what is happening in the body. At both workplaces, you will meet Ing. Martin Bejtic, Bc. Denisa Babincová, Bc. Vanessa Kamírová and Bc. Nikola Gujadnová.

The first and last smiles you will see at our clinic will be from our receptionists. You will meet Bc. Andrea Hozdová and Miroslava Gailová.
